Reese's Relapse.

Contributing factors:
I don't know.

And it's not like I was just strolling down the candy aisle at CVS and happened to see the bag.

I SPECIFICALLY went there with the intention of doing it. I knew the bag would be empty by the next night.

In a weird way, I'm actually proud of myself for not buying two bags because there was a deal.

(ignore the Three Musketeers wrappers)
(that's another story)
(it's the same story. I used the deal.)
(but at least it wasn't for Reese's and I'll probably throw the rest away because they taste like nothing)

Deus Ex Machina To Blame For Universal Thinking

Because why solve a problem if it's going to solve itself?

*Yawn*
Another literary device used by the bourgeoisie to convince "the masses" that nothing in life requires action.
That inescapable corner you've backed yourself into?
Leave it to God--
Or whoever runs the show these days.

It's not that we can't bear to see the hero lose, it's just;
Where would that leave us if they did?

Is Social Media Turning Us Into Narcissistic Monsters?

No.
It just attracts narcissistic monsters.
Well actually it's both. Since there's never an answer to anything.

There was a study done at the University of Texas - Austin about which personality traits lead people to use social networking sites (i.e., everyone). Specifically, they focused on extroversion and emotional stability.

A positive correlation existed between extroversion and social media use, however results showed a negative correlation between emotional stability and social media use.

"People high in neuroticism had greater instant messaging use. The authors speculate this preference over face-to-face interaction was because the instant messaging permitted additional time to contemplate responses, making it easier for more neurotic people to communicate with others."

Then, they narrowed it to gender. "Men with greater degrees of emotional instability were more regular users." It turns out only men showed a negative correlation. There was no correlation between the two for women. Additionally, there was a negative correlation between life-satisfaction and social media use for men, but there was no correlation for women. Why is this?
The study brings up an interesting point; people originally used the internet for communication because it allowed anonymity of the user. Now, it's used for validating identity.
But now that social networking has removed that anonymity, and become a place to communicate with people you already know, it has attracted more extroverts.

Personally, I use social networking sites (except Facebook because it's too complicated. I'm old.) more when I feel the need to "keep up" with other people. Which is the most annoying reason ever. I think it correlates with "life-satisfaction" and "emotional stability" even though it's not supposed to because I'm a woman (according to the "study"). But I don't use Twitter and Instagram as frequently when I have a life and am busy doing life-style things.

Cryonics; Bottomless Problems. Happy Hour: Now - The End of Time.

WHY. WOULD. ANYONE. WANT. TO. WAKE UP. 100 YEARS FROM NOW.AND THEN LIVE FOREVER.

Reasons why not:

1) Do you really think that if someone from 1913 woke up in the year 2013, they'd be excited and happy about it? NO. THEY'D BE SCARED AND HAVE A F***ING BREAKDOWN. It would be THE MOST OVERWHELMING THING IN THE WORLD.

2) Do you really think being immortal would be FUN? It seems like torture. Knowing that you will literally be alive and conscious FOREVER? With NO END? What would be the point of doing anything in a timely manner.

3) Also, the planet would become over-populated if cryonic crazies "cured death" (since it's a "disease").

4) Everyone would be even more sad and have an even greater sense of "loss" when their loved one died, if they couldn't afford to have them preserved cryonic-style.

Time would become obsolete. And the world's resources would run out. Why would you want to "live" to see the destruction of humanity/the world anyways? Why would you want to live to see the sun explode? (even though it sounds cool now).

Immortality is like Communism, it completely strips you of that (usually miniscule) drive you have to create. Nothing would get done. Death is an incentive. It's why we do things while we're alive.

All in all, if cryonics did somehow end up working, which it won't, it would be another stupid addition to the endless drawbacks of being human / the human condition.

Life Lessons à la Ally McBeal's Therapist

Otherwise known as Tracey Ullman. The comedienne.

- "Sometimes when a patient says something so naive, I find that my own laughter just isn't enough."

- "Is it the adult thing to do? Of course not. So what?    She's a beautiful, smart woman married to the man you love. Smack her! We don't deny human nature in this room."

- "Obviously befriending little Chucky hasn't worked. Kick his ass. You unconscious is taunting you, kick the baby's bottom."

- "But the idea that you could be [with him] has made you less afraid. 'Gee, you could latch onto a husband! Your life's not a total waste!' That's why you're not feeling so 'underwater'. Aren't you just the all-American little weakling."

- "You need a theme song. Something that you can play in your head to make you feel better. A theme song is vital."

Arrogantly, this has always been my theme song:

The Philosphy of The Twilight Zone

Okay it's not deep enough to be philosophy-style but...

Walking Distance (Season 1)
This episode is about a "hot shot" advertising exec returning to his home town, and accidentally goes back in time and meets himself as a kid. He gets all sappy about having lost his youth, and yearns to get those years back... He even tries to tell the kid (himself) that these are the best years of his life and not to piss them away (although he accidentally breaks the kid's leg in the process). Then his dad comes in, gives him this speech, and the man goes back to his present time (the 50s).

On Wikipedia, it says this episode "was a little more depressing than most, in that it does not have a happy ending and the man’s problems are never really resolved."

I, on the other hand, think it was the most uplifting thing I've ever seen and actually made me feel better about life and being nostalgic.

In the beginning, he goes back to the 1930s (when he was a kid) and gets a milkshake at an old fashioned diner. He gets all "dreary-eyed" remembering the "good times" he spent there as a kid. At the end of the episode, the man goes back to the diner, except this time it's the 1950s (present time) and it's filled with 50's teenagers.

From my perspective, as someone from 2013, the scene in the 50's diner makes me nostalgic even though I've never lived in the 1950s. Probably because I know things will never be that way again (not that I particularly want them to, there's just something about knowing things will never be that way again). It's weird because he thinks the 50's are worse than the 30's (because it's his present), but in retrospect (no pun intended) the 50's are actually really cozy too.

However, from his perspective, he can't see that. Just like his father said, he cannot see that the present holds new things that he will eventually be nostalgic of later. This episode was made 60 years ago, and from our perspective we can see that things were cozy when we look back into the 50's, although the main character thinks they are depressing because it's his present. The fact that this realization can only be made because there are 60 years between us and the episode makes it a "meta" example of the concept as well.

Unfortunately, there's not an episode about someone who's afraid of the future and meets their future self and then has a cozy realization that you shouldn't live in the future.

Aneurysm

; an abnormal widening or ballooning of a portion of an artery due to weakness in the wall of the blood vessel

Notice that without context, it almost looks like art. Intriguing? Beautiful?

When placed into context, the "bigger picture", how does your perception of it change? Is it still beautiful?

Myers-Briggs Personality Types, an obsession.

Thanks to my Mastermind INTJ best friend for introducing me into the world of personality types, I'm now more obsessed with them than he is.

Literally, the past week has been spent collecting data on everyone I know and making them take the test, as well as taking it as them. Surprisingly (or not), I was pretty accurate in determining their personality types when I took it as them. I'm convinced this is the only way I can understand people who don't use the same "functions" (aka thinking) as I do.

I'm an "ENTJ" (every fictional character is a villain) and supposedly my "major drawback" is failing to see from others' POVs and understanding others' feelings. Therefore, I'm turning to a system which categorizes personalities in order to understand them. So far, it's been "insightful".

Someone recently said/laughed to me, "You have to put effort in to care about people? For most people it comes naturally..." in a condescending /sarcastic/annoying tone. However, they were an F (Feeler). I am a T (Thinker).

And I do care naturally... "in my own way". Maybe not in a way that a Feeler would understand.

Anyways this isn't about caring. It's about understanding. I'm tired of not understanding people who I think are dumb (I'm so mean).

I probably "have something to learn from them", in a really abstract way.

If Albert Fish Were A Food Critic

This would be his blog.

"Food Forkast"
http://objectivesubjectiv.blogspot.com/

Zspy "dishes" on all the underground grub, from San Francisco to Seattle.

"A sticky and sugary honey based glaze highlights the crisped, barbecued exterior confining its tender core."

"With their puckered hourglass look, the shrimp and pork shao mai were a must-order as well. Simply eyeing them is pure joy. Slipping the Juicy Pork Dumplings between the chopsticks was too easy, perfect for transporting them to the 1/3rd soy sauce, 2/3rds vinegar dipping sauce accompanied by a few thin strips of ginger."
